Our Roots

Founder, Designer & Maker, Emily LaPlume started Saturday Swimwear after spending time studying and traveling abroad. She set out to create something that embodied all of the beautiful places she had been, so Emily taught herself to design and sew and, within months, Saturday Swimwear was born.

During her travels, Emily noticed the devastating effects of over-consumption, pollution, and the fast fashion industry. Emily understood that as a maker she must also be a mover and a shaker. That is why she decided to shift the entire focus of the company towards being more sustainable.

Emily is continuing to learn and grow within the fashion and sustainability spaces and encourages consumers and brands alike to demand transparency within the industry and take steps to become more just, ethical and sustainable.

*NOTE: Since recording this video in 2021, we have outsourced our production to a small, woman-owned sew studio in Portland, Oregon. All of our pieces are made with the same high-quality standards as before. Our sew studio maintains the best working conditions for all employees. We are so grateful to have a production partner whose values align so seamlessly with ours.

Our Team

While Saturday Swimwear is managed entirely by our Founder, Emily LaPlume, Emily works one on one with the owner of our production studio to produce our high-quality design.

The brand is also supported by numerous photographers, models, graphic designers, artists, friends, family, and so many others.

We would not be where we are today without the support of these amazing individuals as well as our fabulous customers.

Thank you for your support along this journey and we look forward to continuing to change the world - one sustainable swimsuit at a time.
